3 Days Karisimbi Hike : Take on a 3 days Rwanda safari to hike Mount Karisimbi.

Day 1: Pick-up and transfer to Volcanoes National Park

Depending on your location in Kigali, meet with our company representative/driver guide and transfer to Volcanoes National Park; en route, visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial and lunch; and then transfer to Musanze. You will be taken to your lodge to relax, dinner, and an overnight stay at 5 Volcanoes Gorilla Lodge for luxury, Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge for mid-range, or Hotel Muhabura for budget. Meal plan: H/B

Day 2: Hike to Mount Karisimbi

After breakfast, connect to Volcanoes National Park. As early as 7 a.m., drive to the park headquarters for a briefing about the activity; after receiving your ranger guide assignment, embark on the hike. Karisimbi volcano is the highest of the 8 mountain peaks in the Virunga conservation region. The hike to the summit offers spectacular and magnificent views of different volcanoes, including Nyiragongo and Nyamulagira volcanoes. The hike is strenuous and challenging so you need to be physically fit to do this hike. This is a 6-hour hike with great views of different bird species and primates. On reaching an altitude of about 3700 m, you will stop at the first camping site, where you will spend a night.

Day 3: Reach the summit, descend, and return to Kigali

After an early morning cup of coffee, embark on an hour’s hike to the summit. At this level, the hike is steep, passing through dense jungles surrounded by breathtaking scenery. On reaching the summit, enjoy amazing views of the surrounding areas, like Mount Muhabura. Once you’ve enjoyed your time at the summit, return to the starting point, where your driver will be waiting to receive you and drop you off at a location of your choosing in Kigali.
