4 days Nyungwe & Volcanoes :Take on a 4 days safari to Nyungwe National Park and Volcanoes National Park for an unforgettable Rwanda Safari

Day 1: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park.

In the morning, you will be picked up by the driver from your hotel in Kigali and drive southwards to Nyungwe Forest National Park. You will have a stopover in Butare, where you will visit the national museum of Rwanda and the king’s palace in Nyanza with lunch enroute. Dinner and overnight at Gisakura Visitors’ Centre (Budget)/ Nyungwe Top Hill View (midrange).

Day 2: Chimpanzee Trek, Canopy Walk, and Transfer to Gisenyi.

Enjoy breakfast and go for a briefing before entering the forest. Search for the active and playful fellows in Nyungwe Forest. The chimpanzees are easy to spot as they jump from one tree to another, chattering and laughing. Chimp tracking usually takes about 3 hours. After your packed lunch, you’ll return to base to meet your driver guide.

Following your packed lunch, you will embark on a guided nature walk along the famous canopy walkway bridge, a swing bridge 50 meters in length suspended from large trees. You will be able to see the amazing rainforest with a bird’s-eye view, spotting wildlife moving about below you there after connecting to your accommodation to spend the evening at leisure. This hike takes only 2 hours. Later, meet up with your guide and drive back to Kigali. Upon your arrival in Kigali city, you can choose to have your driver drop you off at your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay at the Kivu Serena Hotel (Luxury), Kivu Gorilla Lodge (Midrange), or Paradise Malahide (Budget).

Day 3: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park and Ibyi’ Wacu Village Tour

Have a relaxed breakfast meal at your hotel. You will then meet up with your driver guide and head out for a short tour of Kigali City, where you will visit interesting sites like Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre, Kimironko Market, and Caplaki Craft Village, and then have lunch before finally driving to Volcanoes National Park, where you will embark on a cultural tour of Ibyi’s Wacu Village, also known as ‘the gorilla guardians’ village.’ Enjoy dance and singing performances from the local intore dance troupe and visit the former king’s palace. Later, drive to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay at Virunga Resort Inn & Spa Hotel (Luxury), Muhabura Hotel (Budget), or Tiloreza Eco Lodge (Midrange).

Day 4: Gorilla Trek and Transfer Back to Kigali.

Breakfast will be served early. The briefing is at 7 am. Your guide will give you highlights of specific details about the way of life of the gorillas you will be tracking. The hike can take anything from one to seven hours.

Trekking through the steep, bamboo slopes and then finally coming across the gorillas camouflaged in the vegetation is an inspiring and privileged moment. You can spend an hour with the gorillas, standing 6 meters away, once you reach them. After completing this magical encounter, you will reconnect with your driver or guide and proceed to your lodge for lunch and refreshment. After lunch, you will transfer back to Kigali, arriving in the evening. Drop-off at the airport or your hotel in Kigali.
