Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Maasai Mara national reserve (4-5 hours’ drive)

Arrival time at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, or depending on your location in Nairobi, you will be picked up by your safari driver/guide and after a short safari briefing about the 5-day Maasai Mara Wildlife & Cultural Safari, you will head to a drive to Maasai Mara National Reserve.

Maasai Mara National Reserve is a popular Kenya safari destination known for its excellent game viewing experiences. To reach the park, you drive through the scenic Great Rift Valley, stopping along the way to enjoy scenery viewing and photography opportunities at the Escarpment viewpoint and Narok village.

On arrival at the park, proceed to your reserved lodge for check-in for lunch. Later in the evening, embark on an evening game drive, offering a rewarding game viewing experience where you can spot predators like lions, leopards, and cheetahs as they hunt in the dark, using a spotlight. In the evening you will head back to your lodge, check-in, and stay overnight at AA Mara Lodge for mid-range/Mitimingi Eco-Lodge for budget.

Day 2: Full-day game drive in Maasai Mara

Get up early in the morning, have breakfast, prepare your packed lunch, and meet your safari driver. Then, embark on a full-day adventure through the stunning savanna vegetation of Masai Mara, where you will witness a multitude of animals, including lions, elephants, cheetahs, leopards, wildebeests, zebras, and many more. After enjoying your picnic lunch, you will embark on a game drive until the sun sets. In the evening, you will head back to your lodge, have dinner, and stay overnight at the lodge as above.

Day 3: Another day—full day in Masai Mara

After breakfast, you will head back to the plains of the reserve for yet another thrilling game drive to find any of the missed animals and enjoy more of the park’s scenery. Later afternoon/evening, return to the lodge for relaxation, dinner, and an overnight stay at the lodge as above.

Day 4: Hot air balloon and Masai cultural tour

Wake up early and be picked up by the air balloon team for your hot air balloon safari, which starts in the early morning, just in time for sunrise. You will glide peacefully above the ground for approximately an hour, providing a panoramic view of the African bush below. The capacity for this activity is limited, making this a very special and exclusive experience. Breakfast will be provided.

Thereafter, in the afternoon, you will head to the Maasai village/Masai Loita Hills for a cultural experience. During this experience, you will gain a deeper understanding of the Maasai culture through interactions with the local Maasai people, entertainment from local dancers, drama, and Maasai warriors, the purchase of local Maasai items like Shukas, exquisitely crafted accessories like necklaces and earrings, and the tasting of local cuisines. After the experience, you will head back to your lodge, have dinner, and stay overnight as above.

Day 5: Transfer back to Nairobi for departures

After breakfast, check-out of the lodge to embark on a journey back to Nairobi, where you will be dropped off at a location you advise.
