Detailed Itinerary: 6 Days Ngorongoro Crater and Serengeti Safari—Wildebeest Calving Experience

Day 0. Arrival

Our Tanzania safari guide will pick you up upon your arrival at the Kilimanjaro International Airport. He will transfer you to the lodge, check in, and relax as you wait for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 1: Transfer, Ngorongoro Crater Drive

Drive Time: Approx. 4 hours

Enjoy breakfast at the lodge; feed the animals at Serval; and thereafter, proceed on a transfer to Ngorongoro Conservation Area with your packed lunch. You will descend into the Ngorongoro crater for a game drive to view wildlife for the rest of the day and also enjoy the beautiful scenery around the crater area where you will look out for various wildlife species such as wildebeests, elands, warthogs, zebras, buffalos, hippos, elephants, lions, hyenas, cheetahs, and leopards. Enjoy your packed lunch on the classroom floor!

You will later be driven to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Transfer to Ndutu Area, Game Drive

After enjoying a relaxed breakfast at the lodge with your packed lunch, embark on a game drive in the conservancy. Look out for various wildlife in the conservancy and enjoy your photography sessions at ease as you drive to the Ndutu area. Enjoy a game drive throughout, punctuated with a picnic lunch. Look out for the migrating herds of wildebeests and so many other grazers like zebras. Check in at the camp, relax while you wait for dinner, and enjoy an overnight stay at Ndutu Ngorongoro by the Tanzania Bush Camp.

Day 3&4: Ndutu Wildebeest Calving Experience

You shall enjoy breakfast at the camp and get to explore the wildebeest-covered southern plains of Serengeti National Park in the Ndutu Area. Watch the wildebeest migration and chance to witness the calves being born, as well as predators lurking around! Lunch shall be enjoyed in the wilderness. Enjoy early morning game drives and photography sessions according to your preferences. Dinner and an overnight stay as above.

Day 5: Optional hot air balloon in Ndutu, game drive to Central Serengeti

Wake up early for a hot air balloon ride and watch the Serengeti Plains come to life. Look for wild game and take amazing aerial photos. Get to experience a champagne bush breakfast. Thereafter, proceed to drive to Central Serengeti in the Seronera Area from the south, enjoying wild game viewing as you transfer to the central area. A variety of wildlife is known to inhabit the Seronera River, where they come for a drink or a dip. Dinner and an overnight stay at Central Serengeti Tanzania Bush Camp.

Day 6: Departure

Wake up to a sumptuous breakfast at the camp. Thereafter, you will transfer to Seronera Airstrip, arriving in time for your flight to Zanzibar, bringing your safari to an end.
