6 Days Rwanda Safari

Day 1: Arrival—Hotel Kigali

Upon arrival in Kigali airport, you will be met by your safari guide and transferred to your hotel in Kigali. Depending on your time of arrival, you will do a Kigali city tour and visit the Kigali genocide memorial and the Kimoronko market. Dinner and overnight stay at Kigali Marriot Hotel for luxury/Des Mille Collins Hotel for mid-range/Step Town Motel for budget

Day 2: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park—Community Tour

After breakfast, check out of the hotel and transfer to Musanze, the nearest town to Volcanoes National Park located in the northern province of Rwanda. It’s a 2-3 hour’ drive; check-in your lodge for lunch.

Later in the afternoon, you have the option to participate in an optional community tour that includes a visit to the Iby’ Cuwa cultural village, offering a unique cultural experience in Rwanda. Return to the lodge for relaxation, dinner, and an overnight stay at 5 Volcanoes Lodge for luxury/Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge for mid-range/Hotel Muhabura for budget option.

Day 3: Golden Monkey Trekking—Transfer to Gisenyi

After early morning breakfast, drive back to the park headquarters for a briefing about the endangered golden monkeys and be allocated a group. Connect to the tracking starting point and enter the forest to search for the rare golden monkey. This activity can span from 1 to 5 hours, allowing you to observe other park primates such as the red-tailed and vervet monkeys up close. After viewing the rare golden monkeys for an hour while taking pictures and studying their behaviours, return to the base.

Transfer to Gisenyi with en-route lunch; explore Lake Kivu on a boat ride. Thereafter, drive to your booked lodge for relaxation, dinner, and an overnight stay at

Day 4: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park—Afternoon canopy walk

After breakfast at your lodge check-out, embark on your journey to Nyungwe Forest National Park. It’s a 6-7 hour’ drive with en-route stops for sight-seeing and lunch.

Later in the afternoon, you will embark on a walking trail that leads to the Canopy Walk, a swing bridge spanning 50 meters and suspended from large trees. You will be able to see the amazing rainforest with a bird’s-eye view, spotting wildlife moving about below you. Dinner and overnight stay at Nyungwe One and Only hotel for luxury/Nyungwe Top Hill Lodge for mid-range/Gisakura Visitors Centre for budget option

Day 5: Waterfalls nature walk—Transfer back to Kigali

After breakfast, embark on a forest walk to the waterfalls, where you will encounter various birds and other primates. Reaching the waterfalls is a relaxing and refreshing experience, offering great views of the forested mountain. On a lucky day, you may also spot the different primates found in Nyungwe.

Thereafter, embark on your journey back to Kigali city. It’s a 5-6 hour’ drive. Optional stop at the Nyanzi Kings’ palace, Kigali national museum, and genocide. Upon arrival, check-in at your booked hotel. Dinner and overnight stay at Kigali Marriot Hotel for luxury/Des Mille Collins Hotel for mid-range/Step Town Motel for budget

Day 6: Kigali city tour & departure back to Uganda

Enjoy breakfast at leisure; if you missed the city tour on day 1, do your city tour, then connect to the airport for your flight to your next destination.
