Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe Airport—Hotel

Upon your arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be greeted by our company representative, who will also serve as your safari guide for the next 12 days. The driver will then pick you up and transfer you to Kampala. From the airport, it is about an hour’s drive to Kampala city. On locating your hotel, proceed to check-in for relaxation, dinner, and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park—Ziwa rhino sanctuary

After breakfast, proceed to check-out and transfer to Murchison Falls National Park, situated in the northwest of Uganda. The journey takes approximately 5-6 hours, including a lunch stop en route from Kampala. Murchison Falls National Park is home to the most powerful falls in Africa. You will en route visit the Ziwa rhino sanctuary or rhino tracking for about 2 hours in Nakasongola district.

Thereafter, proceed to Murchison Falls National Park. Check-in at your lodge for dinner and overnight stay at either Heritage Safari Lodge or Red Chilly Rest Camp.

Day 3: Game drive, River Nile boat cruise and hike to the top of the falls

After breakfast, embark on a game drive in the delta area, where you will find most of the animals. Murchison Falls National Park is the only park where you will be able to see most of the animals in the park. This will take about 2–3 hours, depending on the availability of the animals, including elephants, Rothschild giraffes, buffaloes, lions, hartebeests, Uganda kobs, oribis, and waterbucks.

After returning to the lodge for lunch, you will embark on a boat cruise along the Nile at 2 pm, providing you with an exciting panoramic view at the base of the mighty Murchison Falls. Along the cruise, you will encounter crocodiles, hippos, and birds on the river banks, like kingfisher, cormorants, and bee-eaters.

Hike up to the top of the falls before you return to your lodge for relaxation, dinner, and an overnight stay as above.

Day 4: Transfer to Kidepo National Park—night game drive

Early morning after breakfast, embark on your long journey to Kidepo valley national park located in the far North Eastern part of Uganda in the semi-arid area of Karamojong region. The journey takes approximately 7-8 hours, during which you will be able to take in the breathtaking scenery of the region. Upon arrival in Kidepo National Park late afternoon, proceed to check-in your lodge. Later in the night, connect for a night game drive in Narus Valley for chances of finding the nocturnal animals and the predators. Dinner and overnight stay at Apoka Rest Camps

Day 5: Narus Valley morning game drive and cultural village tour

After breakfast, rendezvous with your guide and embark on a game drive through the Narus valley. Here, you’ll encounter a variety of animals, including elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, cheetahs, lions, and leopards, and on a fortunate day, you might even spot elands. This will take about 2–3 hours, depending on the availability of the animals.

After relaxing in the afternoon, visit one of the Karamojong communities, such as the Karenna or Kidepo communities, for a cultural village tour. During this tour, you will learn more about the local community in the park, including their nomadic lifestyle, by visiting homesteads, kraals of cattle, and traditional spears, headdresses, bows and arrows, jewellery, stools, and utensils made by the local natives. Later in the evening, take a sunset game drive to explore more of Kidepo National Park. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Narus Valley

Day 6: Kidepo Valley visit

After breakfast, drive to Kidepo Valley, which is closer to the Uganda and Sudan border, where we find the Kanangorok hot springs. The wild ostriches can also be spotted in this area of the park with other animals while on a game drive. You will have your lunch and spend the rest of your evening at leisure. Dinner and overnight stay at your booked lodge as above

Day 7: Transfer to Pian Upe Wildlife Reserve—Evening game drive

After your breakfast, drive to Pian Upe Wildlife Reserve. It’s a 5-hour’ drive with en-route lunch. Upon arrival, embark on an evening game drive in the Savannah Plains, where you will search for various reserve residents such as cheetahs, Uganda’s unique Roan antelope population, Elands, Zebras, Hartebeests, Oribis, Gunther’s Dik Dik, Uganda Kobs, Buffaloes, Blue and Common Duikers, and Impalas, among others. Dinner and overnight stay at UWA Bandas

Day 8: Another game drive and transfer to Mbale

Enjoy another game drive and thereafter, embark on your journey to Mbale. It takes about 6-7 hours’ drive to connect to Mbale in the eastern part of Uganda. Dinner and overnight stay at the Wash and Wills Hotel

Day 9: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park

After an early morning breakfast, meet with your guide and embark on your journey in Lake Mburo National Park. It is a 7-8 hour’s drive from Mbale with an en-route stop in Kampala for lunch and several other stopovers at the Uganda Equator. Upon arrival, connect to your booked lodge with an en-route game drive for some animals. Dinner and overnight stay at Eagles Nest Lodge

Day 10: Walking safari and boat cruise

Early morning, after your breakfast, meet your ranger guides for your walking safari. This tour is no different from a game drive except that here you will walk on foot to find the animals. Return to the lodge for refreshments and lunch and in the afternoon go for a boat ride on Lake Mburo, which will get you quite close to crocodiles and hippos. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight as above.

Day 11: Game drive—transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park—Ishasha sector

After breakfast, embark on a game drive before transferring to Queen Elizabeth National Park, approximately 5 hours away from Lake Mburo National Park, and enjoy lunch en route. Upon arrival, connect to your lodge in the Ishasha sector. Dinner and overnight stay at Enjojo Safari Lodge

Day 12: Ishasha game drive

After breakfast, connect for a game drive in the Ishasha sector in search of the tree-climbing lions with en route lunch. Later afternoon, connect to your lodge in the Kyambura area. Dinner and overnight stay at Engiri Safari Lodge

Day 13: Game drive/Lion tracking and boat cruise along the Kazinga channel

After breakfast, connect for a morning game drive in the Kasenyi area for a lion experience that will last for about 2 hours. Given the difficulties encountered during game drives, the lion experience guarantees visitors a chance to see the lions in Queen Elizabeth National Park. This activity is only available in Queen Elizabeth National Park. You will also enjoy an en-route game drive for animals like elephants, buffaloes, antelopes, Uganda kobs, and leopards on a lucky day, among others, as you drive back for lunch at your lodge.

Later in the afternoon, go for a launch cruise along the Kazinga channel, where you will spot various water animals like hippos and crocodiles. The cruise will also enrich you with various water birds. After the boat experience, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay at lodge as above.

Day 14: Drive back to Kampala—Departure

On this day as you end your Uganda safari, have your breakfast and transfer back to Kampala/Entebbe depending on your travel arrangements. It is a 6-7 hour’ drive back to Entebbe. Your safari guide will drop you off at a location you advise or drop you off at Entebbe International Airport for your onwards flight back home. End of Safari
