Amakoro Songa Lodge is an incredible accommodation facility hidden in a small village just outside Kinigi, which makes it a seamless blend of tourism and conservation. This exceptional Lodge gets its unique name from the beautiful black volcanic rocks that make up the mountainous part of Northern Rwanda (haven to the endangered mountain gorillas in their natural habitat). Each of the Cottages is purposely designed and furnished with a touch of rustic elegance while fusing local and contemporary pieces that provide wonderful comfort and warmth. They are spacious and equipped with a warm fireplace that is perfect after a post-trekking massage. There is also an outdoor fireplace that makes it possible for guests to relish an evening drink while being entertained by the popular Intore Dance Troupe. Also available in the Cottages is a work/writing desk and chair, a very spacious living area with comfortable sofas, and a veranda for relaxing while enjoying the beauty of the natural surroundings.

The outdoor fireplace at Amakoro Songa is where guests usually retreat while enjoying an evening drink and sharing safari experiences or getting entertained by the traditional Intore Dance Troupe.
When it comes to meals, this luxurious Lodge is huge on “taste local” as guests are treated to organic meals prepared from spices and organic vegetables from the Lodge gardens while at the same time being able to cater to the unique tastes of the World.
Amakoro Songa Lodge is one of the few accommodation facilities that directly promote community development by employing youth from the local community to provide guests with authentic local hospitality as well as knowledge of the area.
