Requirements For Wildlife Filming In Uganda?

Requirements For Wildlife Filming In Uganda? Typically, filming tours in Uganda include places like Highlands, woods, marshes, lakes, rivers, savannahs, cities, mining, schools, hospitals, farms, and traditional villages may all be found in Uganda.

 PRESS ACCREDITATION

Press accreditation is necessary in Uganda by the Uganda Media Council for anyone organizing a wildlife filming tour. Either directly or through a reputable trip operator, this is possible. Depending on how you book, you will need to fill out “Form G” for each person or crew member, scan it, and send it back to either the Uganda Media Council or your tour operator. Include a copy of your passport and the photo you want to appear on your media card with the application.

Moreover, a letter from the production company outlining your identity, the purpose of your shoot, the location of your shoot, and the crew members who will be working on this tour. This will be sent to the Uganda Media Council for processing media cards together with all of the information you have provided. These media cards are prepared after this process in 2 to 3 business days. For 30 days of filming, the media card costs about $175, and for up to 60 days, it costs about $225.

  WILDLIFE FILMINC LOCATION PERMITS

Location permissions, as opposed to press or media accreditation permits, are frequently provided by the regulatory organizations in the appropriate places for filming. In this instance, the Uganda Wildlife Authority, which oversees Uganda’s national parks and game reserves, issues permissions for wildlife filming locations.

The Uganda Wildlife Authority levies a fee of 40% of the filming activity, 10% daily monitoring fee included. Additionally, 50% of the filming activity is charged as drone filming fees. However, if the filming crew provides UWA with at least two DVD copies of the program in its broadcast form and UWA uses these Discs only for educational and nonprofit purposes, the $1,000 refundable deposit will be returned.

  UGANDA VISAS AND WORK PERMITS

We advise you to obtain a tourist or business visa in terms of visas. The majority of film crews choose to apply for their visas online before traveling to Uganda. On the other hand, obtaining a visa is simple once you arrive. The processing period for work permits, which must be obtained by each member of the visiting crew in Uganda, is typically two to three days after the required visitor documentation is submitted.

Visitors entering Uganda must have press credentials, which are good for 30 days. This license is required in particular when clearing equipment through customs and filming anywhere in Uganda.

CUSTOMS CLEARING

Sadly, because Uganda is not a part of the Carnet Free Systems Unions, carnets are not accepted there. The only method to get your filmmaking equipment into and out of Uganda if you want to visit with it is through a licensed agent. A complete list of the equipment and its estimated value must be given to URA through a certified clearing agency (TIP) in order for that organization to issue a Temporary Import Permit. 10% of the equipment’s value must be paid; while this fee is non-refundable, it guarantees your equipment’s security at entry and leave. Because we collaborate with an established bond company, Discover Africa Safaris Tours is able to take care of clearing for you. You can also avoid the trouble of clearing by purchasing tools and equipment domestically. In Uganda, you may get all of the standard lighting, grip, and camera equipment.
